Hello my lovely friends! Thank you for being here with me. I am super excited about this blog post and the things that are going to be shared today. A few weeks ago, a sweet Insta friend of mine suggested this blog post and the wheels in my head and heart began to spin. It seemed like such a simple question, but as I began to think about it, I felt the Lord starting to challenge me. Although I write mainly for you guys, I knew the Lord had something in mind for me too.
The encouragement here isn't just for you — it's for me and it's for all of us! Maybe you've been a Christian for awhile now. Maybe you grew up going to church and lovin' on Jesus and that's been your normal. Or maybe you're new to this whole living-for-Jesus-thing. Wherever you're at, today's post is just for you. It can be so easy to go along with our days and forget that as Christians, we're called to do everything for God's glory — that we're called to live for Him. We go to class. We go to work. We browse social media. We hangout with friends. But how are we supposed to do all of those things, do life AND live for Jesus? How are we supposed to work and study while living for Jesus?
Friend, I could exhaust this topic and share hundreds of bullet points with tips to living out your faith everyday. Yet, I'm just going to focus on a few. My prayer is that you would see what is most important about living for Jesus and how truly simple and attainable this can be when you know Christ.
How to Live Out Your Faith Everyday
JUST GET TO KNOW GOD. Philippians 3:10 says, "...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection..." The goal of every believer is to simply know Christ. The more that we know and love Him, the more He shows us how to live for Him. The more that we know what He says and wants for us, the more our lives begin to look like His. Start each day by praying, reading the Bible and spending time with Him. Prioritize this — it'll shape how you live. Reading the Bible and letting the Lord speak to you will inspire and energize your days to live for Him!
** If you don't know where to start in your Bible reading, comment below or message me on Instagram and I am more than willing to help you!
REMEMBER YOUR CALL. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you are His prized possession and He has prepared a purpose for your life. It's time we step into it! One of the first things we need to do when we want to live out our faith is to remember what and Who we are called to. Remember that you are no longer living for yourself, but for God and His plans. What a wonderful gift it is to be included in His plans! Wake up every morning and go about your day, reminding yourself that you are called to God's purpose. And be willing to listen and seek Him out to find out what that means for YOU.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE IN GOOD PLACES. There are thousands of instances in the Bible where the idea of community is stressed. God made us to be in fellowship with other believers (Romans 12:4-5) and it's essential that we cling to those people. So my encouragement to you is to surround yourself with people who love Jesus and are striving to seek and follow Him. Surround yourself with people who are willing to encourage you, listen to you and correct you in love. This doesn't mean you can't be around non-believers, because we're meant to shine in the darkness. However, we need to be around people who will sharpen us because we are meant for unity! (This even goes for social media. Take a hard look at the people you're following and you interact with — are they sharpening you or making you dull?)
LIVE LIKE FRUIT. Galatians 4:22-26 is one of the most famous passages in the Bible that we like to call "the fruits of the Spirit." As Christians, we've been given the gift of the Holy Spirit that not only helps us combat sin, but also helps us live out our faith in a way that honors Jesus! Read this passage and challenge yourself to memorize these fruits. As you go about your day, think about which fruit you need to work on and how you can demonstrate it in your life. Let these fruits be your guide. And if you are struggling with "living like fruit", you can always turn to the Lord and ask Him to help you grow these fruits. He is faithful and He will — if only you ask!
So there are my four "tips" to help you live out your faith everyday. Like I said, I could go on and on, but my prayer is that you would seek the Lord and ask Him to help you live more like Him. The more you seek and get to know Him, you will begin to see that your faith is being lived out. And all for His glory! (1 Corinthians 10:31)
